Department Key Programmes and Highlights

- Inter-schools' Tamil Language Competitions 2011 (Tamilosai)
Last year, we collaborated with 3 other schools to organise competitions for our pupils. We organised the following competitions for each level.

  • P1 - Singing
  • P2 - Word Formation
  • P3 - Story Creation
  • P4 - Story Telling
  • P5 - Kolam Drawing
  • P6 - Advertising

This year, the competitions will be conducted in cluster level. Schools in the S2 Cluster, namely Blangah Rise Pri Sch, Cantonment Pri, Fairfield Methodist Sch (Pri), New Town Pri Sch, Pei Tong Pri Sch and Queenstown Pri Sch will be collaborating together. It has been scheduled on the 12th of April and do look out for more updates on the competitions soon.

- MTL Fortnight Programmes
MTL Fortnight is a new initiative by MOE which was started last year. MTL Fortnight was organized in Fairfield by the Tamil Teachers for the Tamil students to emphasize the usage of Tamil Language. We conducted various activities in Tamil for students of all levels. The students indeed enjoyed themselves and learnt many useful things!

- S2 Tamil cluster schools' Book launch
S2 Cluster schools came together to compile the best Primary 5 and Primary 6 pupils' compositions of each participating school.  The
selected compositions were compiled and published as a  book. The maiden launch of the book - Muthukuviyal Compositions  Compilation
took place on 8th April 2011. Pupils whose compositions were featured
in the book received a complimentary copy of the book.

- Audio Acting course
This course was conducted for 35 pupils ranging from Primary 3 to Primary 5 pupils. Through
this course, pupils were able to understand what are radio dramas and audio recordings. Pupils learned tips and techniques of voice projection, pronunciation, clarity and loudness. This would help them to speak Tamil confidently and with clear pronunciation and expressions.  It is especially beneficial for pupils to ace their oral examinations.

- Learning Journey

  • P1 - Bird Park
  • P2 - Frog and Goat Farm
  • P3 - Underwater World
  • P4 - Changi Airport (Cluster level)
