LIFE SKILLS / REWARD AND RECOGNITION (R&R)

SEAIP (Strategies to ensure more Attention to Individual pupil) initiative

SEAIP (an MOE initiative) has been fully implemented in FMSP since 2010.  The following strategies within the SEAIP framework provide structured opportunities for teachers and pupils to get to know one another better and to ensure the well-being of each child.

Life Skills

The FTGP (form teacher guidance period) is known as the life skills period in Fairfield.  These periods are anchored by the form and co-form teacher each week.  Pupils go through lessons to build their socio-emotional competencies, 21st century skills as well as to learn more about the school values.  Teachers also conduct the 1-1 interaction time with pupils during this period.

Here are some examples of life skills lessons conducted in 2011.

Reward and Recognition (R&R)

Character development is of utmost importance in Fairfield.  The Reward and Recognition (R & R) system serves as a platform to encourage pupils to display the school core values. Pupils are given R and R stamps each week in their handbooks (P1 -4) or in on their cards (P5 - 6) for displaying these values.  These stamps can be exchanged for tokens such as bookmarks and collar pins when the child reaches a certain milestone.

I say "Please", "Thank You" and "Excuse Me".

I listen to others when they speak.

I am sensitive to other people's feelings.

I sing the National Anthem and School Song with pride.

I will respect my friend's belongings by not touching them without permission.

I respect my authorities by obeying them.
 RESILIENCENever give up

I persevere when I encounter challenges.

I complete my work to the best of my ability.

I say "I Will not give up!" and "Let's try again!"

I will give thanks in all circumstances.

I will set goals and work hard towards achieving them.

I will attempt ALL questions and will not leave any blanks.

I bring what is needed every day.
INTEGRITYI do what is right even when no one is looking.

I honour my word by fulfilling what I agree to do.

I am quick and courageous to admit my mistakes.

I am genuine and sincere in what I say and do.

I do  what is right even when no one is looking.

I honour my word by fulfilling what I agree to do.

I tell the truth by giving accurate information.
 SERVING AND
 GIVING
Putting others before self.

I will help my teachers carry their bags and books.

I offer my time and thanks.

I  serve my classmates with a smile.

I offer a helping hand without being told to do so.

I give of my time and talents cheerfully.

To encourage pupils to display good character at all times, values are integrated into school programmes. Teachers award R and R stamps to deserving pupils when they display certain values during school activities/ programmes.
