29th December 2012
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Entry to School from Wednesday, 2 Jan 2013
Welcome back to another wonderful and exciting year at Fairfield Primary.
As you are aware, the school will be undergoing major upgrading this year and we seek your understanding to be prepared for some traffic congestion during the morning peak period when the school year begins on Wednesday, 2 Jan 2013.
First of all, please note that the side gate along North Buona Vista Road, next to the demolished Caltex station, will be closed. Please do not let your children alight there.
Secondly, we are expecting an increased number of vehicles coming into the school. Please note that other than dropping off your child / children, vehicles coming into school are not allow to park. This is to minimise congestion to facilitate the outgoing vehicular traffic. Should you need to walk your children into the school, please park your vehicle at the HDB carpark opposite the school.
For the first few days of school, members of the school staff will be on-site to assist our children who are entering the school, those being dropped off at the drop-off area and also help in directing traffic.
We thank you for your cooperation and understanding and we look forward to seeing all our pupils again on the first day of school.
Yours sincerely,
Sharon Liat
Vice Principal

Dear Parents/Guardians,
Charity Sale 2012
Charity Sale 2012 would be held on the 14th and 15th Nov 2012 (Wednesday and Thursday).
Every year, the P6 cohort gets the opportunity to visit and to serve in an orphanage in Batam. At
P5, they raise funds for these orphanages. Funds will go into funding the activities that would be carried out at the orphanages. e.g. To purchase paint to paint a mural at the orphanage, to
purchase sports equipment for the children there etc.
This year, our P5 pupils led by their class committees and their form and subject teachers have worked hard to prepare for the sale. Our UE pupils led by a parent volunteer are also setting up a stall. Products sold include hand made photo frames, snacks, air-filled balloons, toys, bookmarks, gummies etc. Prices range from $1 to $4. Classes have been scheduled to visit the stalls on Wednesday (main sales day). We seek your support to encourage your child to bring money to purchase items from the stalls. As goods can only be exchanged with coupons, pupils would first have to buy coupons before purchasing their goods. Coupons will be sold at the covered play
area on Wednesday and Thursday. If you child has purchased the coupons on Monday (12th Nov),
please remind him or her to bring them on Wednesday.
Thank you for your support!
Best regards,

Dear Parents/Guardians,
iDEAF @ FMSP
Singapore has become one of the most globalised cities in the world. It has been able to provide a stable, safe and comfortable quality of life with good education for youths with hearing impairment. Despite all the improvement, job opportunities for deaf youths upon graduation are still limited. They struggle with the wrong set of expectation at the workplace and experience discrimination in terms
of their capability, employability and salary scale.
iDEAF is a non-profit social enterprise set up by deaf people for deaf people to meet the needs of the deaf. iDEAF's mission is to help people with hearing loss to be matched with the jobs they are qualified. In iDEAF, they are trying to give them the dignity of a job so that they can continue to support their families and themselves.
On the eve of National Day (8 Aug - next Wed), we have invited iDEAF to come to Fairfield.
iDEAF staff and volunteers will bring our P6es through various activities to bring about awareness
of people who are hearing impaired in Singapore. On top of that, they will be selling food items and gifts. Pupils will be allowed to purchase these items after the day's activities.
Coupons will be the currency used to purchase items sold by iDEAF. These coupons ($1, $2 and $5) will be sold during the 2 recesses next Mon and Tue (6 - 7 Aug). All coupons sold are non-refundable. All proceeds from the sale will go to iDEAF to support their training and livelihood programme.
Thank you.
